"The various developments of quantum field theory in curved space-time have left the false impression that general relativity and quantum mechanics are compatible. ItAbstractThese notes are an expanded version of lectures given at the Croatian School on Black Holes atTrpanj, June 21-25, 2010. This curvature is very small, and its effects are hardly noticable in everyday life and over small distances. Relativity tells us that spacetime is curved, and that curvature causes the force of gravity. He highlighted how gravitational force is replaced by a curving of space-time in Einstein's theory of General Relativity. Peter: Have you by any chance read this paper by Robert Wald “The Formulation of Quantum Field Theory in Curved Spacetime.” http://arxiv.org/abs/0907.0416 ? A recent study of gamma-ray bursts finds that spacetime is smoother on the quantum scale than expected. The researchers applied loop quantum gravity theory to the simplest model of Pullin emphasized that they used a very simple model in this study, consisting of only highly curved spacetime without representing the actual matter found inside real black holes. Well, the issue is that professor Wisdom's 'breaststroke' is not particularly effective to overcome earth's gravity, as it relies on the local curvature of spacetime. A very thin rubber sheet is a pretty good . Or indeed the Quantum Field, Higgs Field, New Luminiferous Ether, or whatever else we may end up calling it. In loop quantum gravity, the four dimensions of spacetime are composed of networks of intersecting loops — ripples of the gravitational field. Perhaps suggesting a less dense area in space say nearer the center of a galaxy v/s the extreme perimeter light could travel faster or slower until it comes to the field we know and love here called Constants. The three microscopic forces arise from force-carrying particles in Quantum Field Theory.
